Personal Power Equals Happiness

What is the single common trait every person was given at birth? This trait, even though not tangible, has the ability to be given to others or to be kept to one's self.

If one chooses to give it to others they need to prepare for the penalties that follow.

These penalties are, but are not limited to: anger, confusion, stress, superstitions, and worry.

But, if it remains in the sole possession of the owner then it will generate success, love, and fulfillment. The answer is Personal Power.

Personal power is the source of authority one has over their emotional state. If one maintains control of their emotional state in times of distress then they will remain powerful. But let them lose control and lose their temper then that same man will immediately become powerless.

Being powerful or powerless is a choice. No one can force any to get upset when they encounter a situation that they do not agree with, it is a personal choice.

Life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% of how we react to what happens to us.

If a co-worker, family member, or friend talks about you behind your back, someone is being a jerk and at last minute cuts you off in traffic, or if something just didn’t go the way you planned it to, you have two options.

You can choose to lose control of your power and confront and argue with the shady person talking about you behind your back, honk the horn, yell, and scream at the person who cut you off in traffic, or become frustrated and take out your frustration on someone close to you when your day didn’t go as planned.

But, by choosing to do so, you instantly become unhappy, cortisol is released in the body, and your blood pressure shoots up. Nothing is positively accomplished by these futile actions.

Or, you can choose to stay in control of your emotions. By staying in control you can control the outcome of the situation. You can calmly and collectively think through all the angles and play the best hand, and win.

Also, by staying in control of your emotional state your confidence grows. Confidence is trusting in one's abilities. If you can control your ability to stay in control then you will build confidence in this area which will overflow into other areas of your life.

Think about this, try being happy and mad at the same time. Go ahead and give it a shot. You cannot do it. It is impossible. By giving up your power and giving in to anger, you willingly give up your happiness.

You see, some people are like garbage trucks. They carry around all this garbage with them all day every day. The negativity and unpleasantness of their life. As the garbage builds up and gets to the point of overflowing they need to dump it somewhere and they might even dump it on you.

Successful people do not let someone else’s garbage ruin their day.

The garbage some dump out may be negative opinions that if taken to heart could be painful, but remember, everyone is entitled to their opinion. It doesn’t mean their opinion is right or true. In all honesty it is none of your business what their opinion is. Who cares? Their opinion is based on that person’s past situations and current state of mind.

Some people are not at peace with themselves so how can you expect them to be happy with or for you?

Your personal power is your very own personal key to happiness. If you always keep this key with you, you will begin to open up door after door of happiness.

You are Stronger Than Failure,
